Tor Relays 101 - March 16th, 2014

Join us on Sunday, March 16th at 1pm to hearĀ Osman "breadtk" Surkatty speak about Tor relays.

Tor is a network of virtual tunnels that allows people and groups to improve their privacy and security on the Internet. One of the best and cheapest ways to contribute to the Tor project is by running a Tor relay. Tor relays are servers run by volunteers that contribute bandwidth to the Tor network. Diversity in both network location and relay operators are important for the overall health of the Tor network. Unfortunately a lot of technical and legal confusion exists around running Tor relays. This talk will be a primer for those interested in learning more about the Tor network, Tor relays, and it will also cover the experiences of one relay operator who has run relays on and off for the past several years.

Osman "breadtk" Surkatty is a security wonk that works in the greater Seattle area as an Information Security lackey. In his spare time he enjoys spending time with his wife and growing fleet of technological gadgets.
